Version 1.0 of the Lotusphere BlackBerry app is ready.
Friends,
I've shipped version 1.0 to some friends for testing. When I get a chance later today I'll post some screen shots!!
As promised here are the images:
Disclaimer
Quite importantly the obligatory don't sue me disclaimer. Seriously I've got next to nothing
and you use the thing at your own risk but knowing that I've done my best to test the thing...

Main Screen:
A limited search function and a list of the current events. I'm thinking about replacing the bog standard list with a three column custom listfield. Jury is still out on that.

Main screen with menu showing:
When you view the menu but the listfield doesn't have focus you'll see this menu:

Main screen menu when Listfield has focus:

Subscription:
You can subscribe (and unsubscribe) to an email every 24 hours with email addresses of people who have similar interests to you. I think this will handled by an agent which will match single keywords. You'll either get an email with the other email addresses or I'll create a mail only group and you'll be emailed with that group which you could use to organise your own get together.

Flashmob:
This was Bill Buchan's idea, though I'm not sure I've implemented it in quite the way he had planned. The idea is you can email a flashmob message and it will be broadcast to all of the other flashmob subscribers. So you can create an ad-hoc get together without having to use the web app or relying on people updating their BlackBerry app. This feature will probably be exclusive to the BlackBerry.

Venues:
I thought it would be nice to have handy phone numbers and locations of favourite venues. There's a list on this screen:

Venue detail:
Details of each venue are one menu click away..
If I get a chance I'll investigate any specials are going on at the venues like cheap drinks or food.

Some other ideas I had:
Having a collection of coupons inside the app so that you could flash a barman your BlackBerry and get a cheap drink. May try to do that next year as I won't have time to organise that this year. But I like that idea a lot.
Trying to get together people that have accomodation to share and people that need accomodation. Could be tricky because I couldn't vet the people who I'm helping get together but that's probably true of the whole enterprise.
What do you think?
Tomorrow I'll post a screenshot of the web app, in the meantime now you can see what the app will do what do you think to it. Can you see features that are obviously missing or can be improved?
ttfn,
Jason
