craicBerry Flash Videos & general update
I was going to produce instructions for using craicBerry (in pdf format and if you need it I will just ask), instead I've opted for a short Flash video demo. I've produced it at two quality levels best and about mid quality.
The video was captured via the very very cool BlackBerry viewer by Idokorro they are not offering it as a product right now but if you email them they'll send you a demo copy I think. It has a couple of tiny issues with capturing events from the device but it's still a great tool. Idokorro you ought to make this available as a product or a give away! As an aside Idokorro offer a fantastic range of mobile admin products including one for Domino*.
Bill Buchan also sent me a 293k image of the Magic Kingdom map, and since I have an unlimited o2 data package I thought I'd see what it looked like on my 7130 so I recorded (and edited) a video lasting 23 seconds. If I were ever desperate enough to need this map on my phone it's nice to know I could look at it. This confirms my thinking that my BlackBerry is like a Swiss Army knife: take it almost anywhere and it's there when you need it. So many times I've used the web to get phone numbers and directions that I've left home without or checked a price for something before buying and found it cheaper somewhere else.
Anyway the videos:
| Type | URL | Detail | |
| craicBerry Demo Best Quality | http://craicberry.com/openCOD/LS2007Party.nsf/craicBerryBQ.html | About 2mb with sound. lasts for about 4 mins | |
| craicBerry Demo Medium Quality | http://craicberry.com/openCOD/LS2007Party.nsf/craicBerryMQ.html | About 1mb with sound lasts for 4mins | |
| Animal Kingdom map on 7130 | http://craicberry.com/openCOD/LS2007Party.nsf/AnimalKingdom.html | 307k and about 23 secs I think |
General Update:
I'm hoping to get another release of craicBerry out before Lotusphere but this is less urgent than getting event information and making it available. Proposed changes (order of priority) include:
- Search options on venue screen (type of venue, budget, location)
- A rate craicBerry form (results submitted by email)
- A tiny bug fix (where a menu is carried over between screen I can't always reproduce but it's not serious)
- Maybe a couple of changes to layout to show more information
- Another effort to optimise the code and make it smaller/best practice
- Get you the source code
I'll keep you updated, but at the moment craicBerry seems to be working and getting more information is the top priority.
ta ta for now
* I don't work for Idokorro either, but they do produce good apps.
