BES Express Installed :-)
I finally bit the bullet yesterday and took over the responsibility for hosting my own email. Up to now GoDaddy has hosted it very well but I wanted to have more control and a little more fun. Also I'd got a little tired of Godaddy's over aggressive spam firewall which had led to a lot of important mail being rejected.
Thanks to Hi-Velocity and GoDaddy it literally took me half a day to get a fixed ip address, reverse DNS and the appropriate DNS and MX records set up. I also installed BES Express and setup my own handset to use my BES. The BES install went very well and is currently running happily on an old Dell laptop.
I'll be evaluating the benefits of taking complete control of my mail hopefully it'll mean at least mail is at least as reliable as it has been with GoDaddy perhaps a little better and certainly more fun
If it proves to be impractical I can always put it back...
All credit to GoDaddy's wicked browser based admin tools and Hi-Velocity's commitment to customer service. Check them out.

Well congrats on bringing stuff in house, but man, you've had the complete opposite experience with GoDaddy than I had. Absolutely one of the worst companies I've ever had to deal with. I didn't think they were capable of good service.
Hi,
I think it had a lot do with the fact I had zero problems and I didn't need to speak to anyone from GoDaddy directly. The Godaddy web tools were just good enough for me to do what I wanted.
I dread to think what would have happened if I'd needed to find a human being to speak to.
Hi-Velocity on the other hand are fairly accesible, knowledge and generally helpful.
