The weekend......

One of Clare's Christmas presents was a pair of tickets to see Lenny Henry.  A lot of you won't know him but he's had a long career in UK Comedy (32 years I think).  He's very good live and I stayed awake for the whole first half of the 2 hour show.  Unfortunately the theatre managers didn't switch on the air con so given a warm, dark environment I did the only thing I could do: fall asleep

Worried that I might snore Clare kept hitting my elbow every thirty seconds for fear Lenny would hear/see me and go in for the kill.  So sorry Lenny my lapses into sleep should bear no reflection or your skill as a performer.  It's probably my age

This weekend I bought a Belkin TuneBase FM to replace my iTrip (which I haven't got a good word to say about).  The Belkin thing keeps my iPod in one place and seems to work well with the radio (will probably work even better when UK radio stations stop broadcasting on FM).  Now I can listen comfortably to all of those podcasts I've downloaded including:

The very excellent Taking Notes Podcast
Escape Pod (Science Fiction Stories)
IdoNotes (http://www.idonotes.com/IdoNotes/IdoNotes.nsf)
IBM DeveloperWorks Podcasts (http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/podcast/)
Learn French By Podcast (http://www.learnfrenchbypodcast.com/)
Michael and Evo's Slice of Sci-Fi (http://www.sliceofscifi.com/)
Ministry of Unknown Science (http://tmous.com)

Who needs internet radio.  What would be cool is if Julian and Bruce could play a record during their podcast just to break it up a little bit otherwise it's consistently fantastic.....

We saw Jo Brand on Sunday night which was also excellent. Have managed to knock her, Ben Elton and Eddie Izzard off my list of 'Comics-I-must-see-live' list so far. Lenny is definitely on there too.

It's not a 'search-them-out' thing, more of a 'ohh. so-and-so is playing in town. always wanted to see them. let's go.' thing.

Of course living in Edinburgh does tend to help a bit. Especially in August for some strange reason
