Jail for 172mph Porsche motorist

So they've jailed the guy who drove a full 100 mph over the speed limit on an A road (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/oxfordshire/7009923.stm) for 10 weeks.  He'll probably serve 5 at most.

The BBC doesn't say if he received a driving ban as well although I guess that goes without saying.

I think a condition of his return to driving should be that he employs a man with a little red flag to walk in front of him wherever he goes.

The BBC drove along the stretch of road he traveled on.  It's just a piece of dual carriageway with hazards all over it including a junction and pedestrian access.  He must have traveled a long way whilst speeding. The stopping distances even in that kind of car is enormous.

I don't understand how his self preservation instinct didn't stop him much earlier.....

Perhaps a life ban would have been more appropriate than prison, not sure would that be too harsh?
