My new BlackBerry Curve arrived - Good news

I was chatting with Bruce Elgort on Friday afternoon via Skype and mentioned that I was expecting my new BlackBerry that afternoon.  I typed "knowing my luck it won't arrive today..." Bruce typed "It Will".  Literally three seconds later it appeared on my desk!!  Acknowledging Bruce's power to get things done I then typed "I could do with winning the lottery...."

The curve I have is the 8300 - the one without Wi-fi.  I thought about waiting for the 8310 which would have Wi-fi.  But since I needed a phone now Wi-Fi wasn't worth waiting for.  The Curve's a nice size generally but the full size keyboard makes the buttons a little small.  It's much lighter than the 7130 which is good news.

The navigation is a little different from the 7130 and I'm getting used to that.  The Trackball thing feels cheap and insubstantial and you don't get the same feedback from it - you move it around a fair amount before it does something.

I like having a video and music player (I replaced the 128 micro SD with a 1 GB one straight away).  Much as I hate to see people taking pictures with their phone camera (I know that makes me a bit of a snob - can't help it) I took pictures of my kids to use as wallpaper.

There are lots of reviews of the 8300 on the web all of which seems good and I'd have to agree it's a nice phone.  Perhaps not for you if you need 3G or WiFi but I just need email and occasional access to Skype (via iSkoot) and it's perfect for that.
